A dental receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting patients the moment they enter or call a dental office. Receptionists make appointments for patients and maintain their accounts. They help coordinate the dentist's schedule and bill patients and their insurance companies. Receptionists also monitor a visitor's access to the office, enter patient information, verify insurance eligibility, and collect for services rendered.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The front desk receptionist works with the dentists, hygienists and assistants to ensure that scheduling proceeds in an efficient manner. The receptionist greets arriving patients and gathers information necessary for their appointment. The receptionist also processes this information and enters it into a computer database. The receptionist works to verify insurance eligibility as presented by patients who are to be seen by the dentists. Additionally, the receptionist will likely be the person called upon to provide insurers with any necessary records to verify procedures and findings by the dentist. Finally, the receptionist handles much of the scheduling for the office. She or he deals with incoming phone calls and directs inquiries appropriately. The front desk receptionist processes all incoming mail and directs it to appropriate personnel as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Proficient working knowledge of computers, telephones, fax machine and scanners.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• A receptionist must be organized and have strong phone and computer skills.

• Receptionists also need to have impeccable office manners and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION

• High school or equivalent

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new programs as required.

Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico

Operating Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
