What You Will DoCome and join an innovative team conducting groundbreaking research in defense of our nation.Engineering Project Delivery (EPD) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) develops, maintains, and applies a diverse set of nuclear facility engineering capabilities to provide innovative solutions to enable the Laboratory's scientific and national security mission.We are seeking a Nuclear Facilities Engineering Manager 6/Division Leader to support the Laboratory mission and serve as a senior engineering manager for LANL. Roles and responsibilities are:Chief Engineer for LANL Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Facility projects in the Engineering Project Delivery Division portfolio.

Responsible for continued and maturing implementation of Conduct of Engineering and Configuration Management programs for nuclear facilities

Provide nuclear design-engineering services to ensure Engineering Project Delivery portfolio facilities are designed, constructed, modified and maintained to satisfy customer needs and expectations in a cost effective, safe, and compliant manner.

Provide design and project engineering resources for Engineering Project Delivery portfolio nuclear, radiological, high hazard, moderate hazard, laboratory, computing, office and utility facilities.

Provide a range of engineering services, including project, procurement and field engineering, in support of project execution and on-going nuclear facility operations and maintenance.

Effectively lead the development and control of nuclear facility technical baselines, disciplined and effective nuclear safety basis implementation, and assessment of overall performance.

Communicate with all levels of internal and external customers to define and recommend cross-organizational operational objectives, develop specific short-term and long-range plans, and monitor progress to assure long-term objectives are attained and customer requirements are met.

Ensure daily open communication with workers (including subcontractors) that promotes an environment where workers feel comfortable bringing errors, system weaknesses and issues to management attention.

Perform design review of external design agency design submittals for nuclear, radiological, high hazard, moderate hazard, laboratory, computing, office and utility facilities in the Engineering Project Delivery portfolio.

As a Nuclear Facilities Engineering Manager 6, you will be responsible for operations and strategic direction by providing technical and administrative oversight to ensure compliance with nuclear facility requirements, conduct of engineering (CoE) and configuration management (CM) program requirements; ensuring that design, field, procurement, project and discipline engineering personnel comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes, and standards; and providing leadership in resolution of technical and personnel issues.In addition, but not limited to, as the senior manager, you will develop staffing plans in accordance with customer requirements and within budget constraints, perform recruiting and hiring activities to implement those plans, and develop staff through training, mentoring and qualification programs.If this interests you, and you want to be part of an organization that offers a rewarding and cultivating environment, we want you to join our team!What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:LeadershipCentral to this position, we are seeking a qualified and talented individual that has demonstrated leadership and innovation in managing a large engineering organization.Knowledge and ExperienceThis position will serve in a senior management role and expert knowledge and experience in engineering and administration for facility projects and on-going operations and maintenance within nuclear, non‐nuclear, and or related industry is required. Specific knowledge and experience sought for includes:Significant record of leading a technical organization in support of nuclear facilities including operations, maintenance, safety basis, and projects to establish and continuously improve conduct of engineering implementation in support of reliable facility operations.

Demonstrated success in effectively interfacing with all levels of contractor management, NNSA/DOE staff, DNFSB staff and board members, and occasionally members of the public.

Demonstrated capability in successfully developing internal and external customer relationships achieving a high degree of customer satisfaction. Expertise in negotiation with customers and support organizations and resolving conflicts.

Experience in developing and managing budgets

Demonstrated experience related to the development and implementation of in-house engineering standards, master specifications, and Conduct of Engineering for facility design, operations and maintenance.

Significant Management experience affecting the requirements above.

Training/Certifications: Professional license (PE) in an engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board preferred.Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution and 15 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.Desired Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of LANL activities and nuclear operations including project execution and management, legal, procurement, construction, environmental safety and health (ES&H), and quality assurance.

Knowledge/experience of LANL Engineering Standards Manual; LANL Conduct of Engineering procedures; and DOE Orders and Standards related to nuclear facility design, construction, and project management.
