Position: Assistant Market Manager (part-time)

Hourly: $15

Accountable to: Market Manager

Purpose:

To provide assistance with all seasonal Railyard Farmers Markets affiliated with SFFM. Mostly Tuesday and Wednesdays, 1 pm “ 6:30 pm from July “ Sept and Saturdays 6 am “ 2 pm May through December. Possibly more hours. To help ensure smooth daily operations and adherence to SFFMs Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct, and other organizational documents.

SFFM Mission: The Santa Fe Farmers Markets purpose is to support agriculture in Northern New Mexico by connecting community and agricultural producers through commerce.

Accountabilities:

On-site assistance with market set up and take down as needed

Assist with on-site monitoring to ensure regulation compliance, public safety, and positive vendor and visitor experience (with Market Manager)

Collect, count, record and reconcile all payment transactions (with Market Manager)

Help keep cohesive and consistent reports on vendor participation

Comply with and enforce all rules and regulations set forth by SFFM board, City of SF, SF Fire Department, SF Parking Division, lease agreements, etc.

Work with Market Manager to facilitate smooth operations including walk-in issues, vendor issues (fines, complaints, etc.), ADA compliance, etc.

Help with farm site inspections including visiting farms to inspect with Market Manager

Collaborate with other staff as needed for marketing, special events, etc.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge of and interest in supporting small-scale agriculture and local food initiatives

Exceptional organizational and customer service skills

Transparent, honest, and courteous in all interpersonal interactions with vendors/members, staff, board, committee members, and the public

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to be flexible, responsive, and think on your feet in stressful situations

Comfort with enforcing rules and policies in a thoughtful, fair and courteous manner

Basic computer and phone skills with a working proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Spanish proficiency (bilingual) a plus

Dedication to showing up consistently for early morning markets (as early as 5AM on Saturdays)

Ability to be on your feet for hours at a time and work long shifts when needed

Ability to lift 50 pounds
