Veterinary Assistant or Technician Needed for Thal Equine, a Full-Service Horse Hospital
We need a new team player! We are looking for a skilled equine veterinary assistant or certified veterinary technician to help part time in our equine hospital. We are a small but well-regarded full-service horse hospital located approximately 8 miles South of Santa Fe. Our emphasis is on providing quality care to all equines and we are strongly committed to horse owner education. We value flexibility, curiosity, compassion, and an interest in diving in to help ensure good outcomes and client satisfaction.
We are looking for a self-motivated, computer-literate, organized, detail-oriented, mature person with excellent communication skills and an interest in equine health.
- You do not need to be an expert equine technician to apply. We can teach those skills, but you must be able to learn quickly.
- You should be a confident horse handler, and willing to improve your horsemanship skills.
- Candidates with experience in a veterinary practice (small or large animal) and/or management skills are preferred.
- You should have some computer literacy and ability to help generate and manage medical records and invoicing.
- You should have your own reliable transportation.
Duties include patient care, vet practice cleaning and organization, surgical support, inventory and lab management, medical record billing, client care and follow-up. In time, your duties will include general anesthesia, imaging and other higher-level skills. You should be willing to work on-call for after hours emergencies at least 3 nights per week. This part time position could easily grow into a full time position.
Salary is dependent upon experience and the set of skills you bring to the workplace. Hours and scheduling tbd based on your schedule and ours.
