CSEA, One of New York State’s largest labor unions, is seeking resumes for an Information Systems Security Specialist. The position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for ensuring that all private data belonging to CSEA, its members and its employees remains confidential. The Information Systems Security Specialist creates, initiates and monitors information within CSEA’s computer network. The Specialist is responsible for CSEA’s security risk management program, including building understanding and awareness of information security throughout the organization and implementing appropriate security protocols. Essential functions include creating a strategic plan for the deployment of information security technologies and program enhancements; supervising development of and ensuring compliance with organizational security policies, standards and procedures; acting as a focal point for IS security investigations and direct/conduct investigation developing a recommended course of action; leading creation and maintenance of information systems, disaster recovery and business continuity plans including desktop and server backup systems deployment and maintenance; assisting in systems and software architecture and design; monitoring internal controls; monitoring local, state and federal regulations and accreditation standards affecting information security.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology or related field with Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other equivalent certifications and 4 years of experience as a Security Specialist with IT strategy, enterprise architecture and security architecture; security concepts related to routing, authentication, proxy services; firewall intrusion detection/prevention protocols; Windows, and other operating systems and programming languages including but not limited to PHP, SQL, Java, .NET etc. OR Acceptable combination of education and work experience as determined by CSEA.
