To learn more, visit.This position is a temporary assignment (duration approximately 1 year) to support NYS Department of Health contact tracing initiatives related to COVID - 19.New York State will hire and train a team of staff working remotely to support the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) and Local Health Departments (LHDs) to perform COVID-19 contact tracing in communities across NYS. The aim of this initiative will be to call every person diagnosed with COVID-19, establish all contacts of this person, and proceed to call and maintain ongoing communication with every contact. In addition, the team will support the isolation and quarantine of individuals, as appropriate in cooperation with the LHD. This includes virtual needs checks and referral to community resources as needed. This contact tracing initiative is in tandem with statewide-wide efforts to increase testing, improve communication and knowledge of effective strategies to reduce transmission, and implementation of isolation and quarantine. This will fortify efforts to control the pandemic in NYS.Responsibilities

Responsible for NY pay requirements

Works with time data and 3rd party vendor

Responds to multi-state pay requirement

Responsible for the preparation of the biweekly payroll, including reviewing, importing and entering hours for time-entry, and processing changes, including benefit deductions, tax changes, etc.

Contacts various supervisors for any missed timesheet entries for terminating employees.

Provides necessary support to Payroll team with various special projects (i.e. audit reports, EEO and annual Affirmative Action, annual census data, etc.)

Responsible for Quarterly Medical Reimbursement program; record quarterly payments for payroll and maintain tracking spreadsheet to ensure compliance with annual limit

Generates monthly payroll reports from the HRIS and payroll databases; compile ad-hoc reports as required

Responds timely to employment verifications

Addresses and monitors all claims for unemployment benefits

Maintains payroll and related documentation for personnel files

Provides input and assistance for payroll and HRIS projects

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

Qualifications

Proficient in payroll reporting tools

Knowledge of Ceridian payroll is a must.

Excellent attention to detail

Understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws

Ability to create spreadsheets and run reports.

Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

Strong customer service skills

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
