Job Description

As a Clinical Support Specialist, you are critical to successfully fulfilling home infusion patient’s’ prescriptions. In partnership with other employees, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role is in daily communications with patients to meet patient delivery needs, assess current condition (in non-clinical manner), validate insurance coverage, and medication supply needs.

Clinical Support Specialist Responsibilities

1. Processes patient prescription refills under the direct approval and supervision of the pharmacist (where allowed by local laws / regulations / branch procedures) based on orders and insurance authorization

2. Generates the delivery manifest for patient deliveries utilizing preferred shipping methods

3. Processes order entry of all prescriptions into computer system

4. Manages team schedule for patient deliveries while maintaining lead time

5. Documents all supply management activities in the patient medical record along with any other communications to the patient / doctor / nurse

6. Assists in validating and / or obtaining authorizations for pharmacy services from insurance and / or doctors, as requested

7. Participates in the asset tracking and management process, as requested

8. Completes initial pump programming when required for patient therapy

9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications

Essential Qualifications :

Minimum of one year of Customer Service related experience

Adherence to :

Regular Predicable Attendance

Skills In :

Verbal and written communication

Computer Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Ability To :

Multi-task with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

Work independently and within the clinical team

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of one year of experience as a Customer Service Specialist within a healthcare environment or industry

Knowledge In :

Medical Terminology

Skills in :

Customer Service and experience in home health and / or the healthcare industry

Education

Verifiable High School diploma or GED is required.
