We aim to shed light on the Capital Districts rich agricultural past, by bringing together heirloom seeds sourced from around the world, sustainable growing practices, and thoughtfully curated goods. Located in the heart of Latham, NY, Forts Ferry Farm grows roughly 120 different varieties of heirloom produceÂthroughout the year. OurÂproduce is sold at our retail shop, farmersÂmarkets, and to restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley. Forts Ferry Farm is continually expanding and evolving in ways that foster the talents of our team, and the education of our community.
General Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of our Culinary Director, bakers will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of goods such as cookies, breads, pies, bagels, and various other culinary items.
Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
Maintain accurate inventory of kitchen supplies/ bulk ingredients, and inform supervisor when items are running low.
Maintain a high degree of professionalism.
Produce high quality products consistently, and efficiently.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should have at least 1 year of baking and culinary experience or equivalent. While we often work together, all applicants must have the ability to work and think independently and possess strong problem-solving skills This individual should be able to accurately following recipes/ instructions.
Possess a strong sense of teamwork
Has an upbeat and positive work ethic
Ability to follow specific instructions
Has integrity and takes initiative
Ability to work with a sense of urgency
Possess strong physical stamina
Has a strong sense of pride in one's work
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Has good organizational skills
Feels the necessity to keep a clean work environment
Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail
Possess ability to foresee high volume needs
