Job Title: Faculty Open Rank - Health Sciences Administration (Health Sciences)Location: Lehman CollegeFull/Part Time: Full-TimeRegular/Temporary: RegularFACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTLehman College seeks a faculty member who will serve as program director for its health services administration program. The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is CUNY's only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution.The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 18 hours per year and although the college is predominantly teaching focused, faculty at Lehman are active in research, scholarship and creative works. Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship support.The Department of Health Sciences and program in Health Services Administration invites applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full professorship in the Health Services Administration program beginning in Fall, 2020. This position will include leadership of the program as it develops and expands its scope in line with the mission and strategic vision of Lehman College including increasing student success and creation of new programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in order to meet the health administration workforce needs of The Bronx and surrounding region and to improve the health and well-being of the people of surrounding communities.Candidates must have an active record of research and scholarship, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in health services administration, engage in research/scholarship and professional organization, advise students, provide service to the department, college, university, and community; i.e. program coordination, committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time tenure-track academic appointment, evening teaching may be required.The program in Health Services Administration is one of the oldest at Lehman College, going back to the founding of the College in 1969. It has changed names and departments over the years but remains committed to its mission to “educate a diverse urban undergraduate student population for current and emerging careers in health services administration in public, non-profit and for-profit sectors.” With over 700 majors it is one of the largest undergraduate programs in the College. The program seeks an enthusiastic leader who will build on this legacy while addressing the changing health services environment by developing curriculum, strengthening student success, engaging with community partners, and supporting faculty as researchers and teachers.The program in Health Services Administration is housed in the Department of Health Sciences. The department is home to a number of other programs including: Dietetics, Food and Nutrition; Exercise Science; Health Education and Promotion; Recreation Education; and Therapeutic Recreation. Health Services Administration is the largest major in the department. Programs share some core courses. The faculty in all of the programs are both research active and committed teachers.The School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing houses four departments: Health Sciences; Social Work; Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and Nursing. All departments offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a Doctorate in Nursing Practice that is expected to admit its first cohort in 2020. The school is home to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity. Faculty in the School are active scholars and include principal investigators of numerous federal grants. Departments in the School actively engage with community and government partners to support evidence-based practices and health equity, with a special emphasis on urban populations. The faculty are also strongly committed to high quality teaching and preparation of ethical and skilled health and human service professionals.QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. or other research doctorate with experience in Health Services Administration, Health Services Research, Health Management, or related discipline or academic field is required on commencement of the appointment. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with program direction or department administration.
