Eligible candidates will support manufacturing activities to meet both present and forecasted demand, through tooling, equipment, and process design. Champion new product design in cooperation with the Research and Development, Manufacturing and Quality departments to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, repeatability and safety requirements are met. ERP Support for Engineering Changes. Lead, organize and establish teams to solve problems that may be product, quality, safety or process related. We are looking for someone who can deliver detailed analytical concepts and then back up those concepts with written justification. The Mechanical Engineer will act as a mentor to the Junior Engineers on staff and create a work environment that is conducive to teamwork and strong professional development. The successful candidate for this position will be able to take a project from the conceptual stage through to completion, considering budgeting and operational considerations.Responsibilities:
Develop and specify Production Equipment, Resource Requirements and costs to improve productivity
Develop new manufacturing processes to meet ever changing market/manufacturing demands
Coordinate machine and tooling integration into production, including installation and validation
Lead cost reduction projects through process improvements and/or product design modifications
Work with Engineering on the Development of new Production equipment
Work with the Quality Department on developing new Production Process
Utilize Lean Manufacturing concepts to increase Production efficiency
Design/Develop fixtures and tooling as needed utilizing SolidWorks software
Determine safety requirements and assist in ensuring a safe environment
Determine labor cost for production activities in support of product pricing and update Epicor ERP system
Knowledge of and adherence to all Company policies and rules
Strong listening, oral and written communication skills
Qualifications & Requirements:
3 years of prior Engineering Experience working with MRP Epicor system
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. (Masters preferred)
Minimum 8 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment
5+ years’ project management experience
Machine design experience
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
Working knowledge of SolidWorks Software
Experience in Mechanical Engineering practices on Machine/tooling design, PLC experience preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, multiple priority environment
Proficient use of the Microsoft office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Experience in an automotive, truck parts or truck service environment would be beneficial
