Open Door is currently seeking Dental Patient Service Representative for its Saugerties, NY location to assist in the provision of dental services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet patients and escort them to appropriate operatory.
Provide services to patients of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Provide chair-side assistance when necessary during dental treatment.
Maintain a safe environment of care for patients and staff by reporting any unsafe condition, equipment, or activities to the appropriate personnel.
Participate in multi-discipline team conferences and mandated service-training programs.
Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to address Department and operational deficiencies.
Prepare patient for examinations and treatment, including placement of bib and instruments for procedure.
Perform charting of all defects at the direction of the dentist.
Maintain supplies and instruments in all dental exam rooms.
Clean operatory between patients.
Maintain dental laboratory including disinfecting and autoclaving, etc.
Perform laboratory and x-ray tasks under supervision of dentist.
Assist patients in proper completion of forms.
Inform the Supervisor of any management or operating problems that may affect quality and standards of patient services.
Greet visitors and patients in a courteous, prompt and friendly manner.
Determine their needs, checks appointments and gives appropriate information
Collect payment due from self-pay patients or co-payments for insurance accounts and change the claim status in eClinicalWorks accordingly.
Verify Medicaid eligibility and scan eligibility forms into document section of the patient file.
Confirm that signed insurance forms are in the file for each Private Insurance billable encounter.
Confirm name, address, phone number, and coverage with the patient.
Demonstrate ability to function in a culturally sensitive manner within the organization’s philosophy and mission.
Foster good communication between the center and the community by returning all patient telephone requests.
Attend staff meetings, as designated, to ascertain the center’s short and long range plans, programs and goals within areas of responsibility.
Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement department goals and objectives annually.
Participate in staff development programs, educational activities, seminars and training opportunities.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times as per Open Door policies and procedures. Responds to patient inquiries on a daily basis.
Participate in health fairs and community outreach activities.
Interpret health center services and assist patient in making optimum use of the center’s services.
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Dental assistance experience preferred
Superior customer service skills and experience
Flexible and solutions driven
Responsive and comfortable working in the fast paced high accountability environment with different types of providers.
Passionate about providing high quality care to low-income, under-served residents and those lacking access to health care.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Engage in learning and continuous quality improvement
Outstanding verbal and written communications, with a culturally diverse patient and staff population
