General Description: The Barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. He/she is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and products. The barista fulfills any other duties necessary to provide the best customer service possible and represents North Star in a professional manner.
Responsibilities:
Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas. Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards.
Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment, including but not limited to, grinders, coffee makers, counters. Clean service or seating areas. Takes out garbage as needed.
Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them.
Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail product. Restocks shelves/coffee bar on a regular basis.
Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions.
Receive and process customer payments.
Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, biscotti, or bagels.
Follows company policy and procedure at all times, Including, but not limited to, drink preparation/food service procedures, cash register procedures, open/close procedures.
Reports and safety concerns or accidents to the manager for immediate protective measures.
Minimum Qualification: Two years' experience as a barista or similar customer service position.
