Westwind Orchard is a multi-faceted, dynamic Trattoria, Cidery and Orchard located in Accord, NY. Established in 2008, the orchard has continued to grow and expand each season with new enterprises, ideas and events.

The general manager oversees all major initiatives of the orchard including the trattoria and food service, wholesale account management of our added value product line and hard cider, and coordinates special events. The general manager also works with the owners, chefs, tasting room and operations management teams to ensure smooth operations of all enterprises. Qualified candidates must be able to multi-task, move fluidly through diverse tasks, communicate clearly and have strong follow through. Management level experience is required in a service-related field. The general manager is also required to work in the trattoria on weekends to maintain operations.

Responsibilities include:

Oversight:

Oversee scheduling and follow up to make sure deadlines are met and operations run smoothly.

Overseeing ordering of supplies for kitchen and bar. Conducting price analysis for purchases when necessary.

Track and report any necessary information for our various licenses and regulators.

Inventory and organization of supplies

Assist in hiring and training of new staff.

Communication:

-Managing communications with both email and telephone. Event inquiries, reservation requests and general questions must be answered in a timely manner with accuracy and follow through. A qualified candidate MUST be comfortable using email for communication as well as the phone.

-Computer skills such as creating and keeping spreadsheets, basic research and updating an existing website with events, announcements, menu changes, etc.

-Receive, pack and ship all online orders of our added value products and hard ciders through our online marketplace.

Account Management:

-Communicating with retailers and distributors of our added value products. Coordinating deliveries and at times making deliveries locally and to New York City.

-Assisting the operations manager with the general tasks of creating the added value products.

-Plan for cider club releases and prepare shipments.

Service:

-Plan and execute events such as weddings and rehearsal dinners. This sometimes means coordinating with outside vendors, getting appropriate insurance information, communicating with day-of planners, service during the event and setting up and breaking down tables, etc.

-Work in the tasting room assisting wherever necessary. This can include serving behind the counter, running food, making drinks, bussing tables, directing staff and any other task as necessary for the success of the shift.

Requirements:

-Must have a valid NY State drivers license and be comfortable driving to New York City. Knowledge of commercial roads a plus.

-Must have weekend, evening and holiday availability.

-Must be physically able to move quickly, carry heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.

-Work well with the owner and develop an understanding and rapport

-Close attention to detail with accounts.

-Keeps a clean and beautiful work environment.

-Patience with yourself and others.

-Strong follow through and personal accountability.

-Ability to manage a staff with multiple roles and functions.

-Exemplary communication skills both written and oral.

-Resourcefulness and the ability to problem-solve creatively.

This is a salaried position. This job requires weekend, evenings and holiday availability.
