Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Orthodontic Dental Assistant helps the orthodontists with patients who require corrective procedures for alignment and spacing issues. As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant you are essential in providing patient care and completing orthodontic procedures instructed to you by the treating doctor. The Orthodontic Dental Assistant will generally prepare patients for their orthodontic procedure and ensures that the patient is comfortable upon arrival. Assistants must help the orthodontists to clearly see problems and changes within the patient’s mouth. This Job Description identifies the major responsibilities of this position, please be advised it does not include all aspects of this position such as potential duties assigned by supervisors and requirements for flexibility
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Practice Support
- Consistently performs specific assigned daily and general duties; meets deadlines
-Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly
- Knows and consistently implements the organizational missions and all approved policies, protocols and procedures
- Responsible for providing a positive and professional orthodontic dental experience, welcomes and greets patients and visitors to the practice [preferably by name]
Clinical Support
The Orthodontic Dental Assistant is responsible for providing patient care a positive orthodontic dental experience, greets and comfort patients, attended to the treating doctor, completes clinical instructions, perform all orthodontic daily duties which include the following procedures
o Adjustments, Repos and Repairs
o Placement of Bands and appliances
o Bonding’s
o Removal of Braces and Placement of Lingual Retainers
o Invisalign
o Obtaining records which include X-Rays, Pan and CEPH, Intraoral and Facial Pictures, Impressions, iTero Scan
o Pour Impressions
o Cut and trim models
o Make Essix Retainers
Requirements
§ 1-2 Year Experience
Minimum Education and Experience
- Be at least 17 years old
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Excellent Customer Service Experience
