K3 Studios is looking to hire a contract video editor to work out of our Danbury studio for a 3-month term, with opportunity for extension.
Primary responsibility will be editing our popular YouTube series 15min+ each, editing previous episodes into 30 second instagram clips, training seminars, and podcasts. All of our work in in the automotive field. Therefore, a basic understanding of automobile terms and technologies is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Weekly edit of YouTube series (1.5 million subscribers). This is a 12-24 minute show featuring multiple cameras. (We use SONY)
- Assist with related weekly production requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong references
- Solid understanding of the production process
- Knowledge of Final Cut for video editing and basic color correction. Must use FCP for review with host of show
- Understanding of delivery video codecs and formats for broadcast, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram (and whatever is next).
An ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of the editorial production process with the ability to produce content quickly and accurately. We’d like the candidate to be able to handle a mirrorless camera or professional cinema camera when necessary, though this is a secondary requirement to the position.
Our company does a lot of work around the United States which opens up the opportunity for travel if the candidate has applicable skills or experience. We travel to film our own show, as well as provide field production to our corporate clients. We film at race tracks, on mountains and the desert, in snow, rain and 110-degree sun, dusty dirty barns, gross vehicles and disgusting locations. An appreciation of diverse environments would be a good thing.
Due to workflow requirements, remote work-from-home is not ideal but open to discussion. We will provide a dedicated work space and editing Mac for the position, to reduce risk of COVID exposure. Plenty of free parking. Pay is DOE. Hours per week are negotiable, with a minimum weekly commitment of 20 hours.
