Job Title: Workforce Coordinator

Reports to: ReUse Training Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Workforce Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing support, coordination, trainings and job readiness development for ReUse Center non-staff workers (volunteers, trainees and interns). Their 5 key tasks will include:

Actively participate in ReUse Center retail operations, maintaining awareness of operational priorities and needs, and how they intersect with skill development and/or engagement opportunities for non-staff workers.

Provide orientation, support and oversight to non-staff workers both operationally (assigning and training tasks) and administratively (email communication, database management etc.)

Provide support to and advocacy for non-staff workers and job training apprentices with patience, emotional intelligence, and awareness of disenfranchisement contexts.

Act as a resource to other local programs and employment opportunities with the goal to help connect trainees with permanent employment.

Coordinate and support group volunteer events, collaborating with staff on activity planning and group oversight.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

2+ years of experience in worker supervision and/or training, demonstrating enhanced worker performance as a result of supervision and/or training.

Experience engaging with individuals with any of the following employment barriers: incarceration/criminal history, economic hardship, disability, substance addiction etc.

History of demonstrating high emotional intelligence and awareness in collaborating and supervising others.

Experience delegating and guiding coworkers and/or volunteers in fair and effective manner.

Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with staff, non-staff workers, customers, donors, and the public.

Ability to identify and achieve goals independently, take proactive responsibility of organizational needs, identifying and improving gaps in organizational performance.

Ability to read, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions, and to legibly write in and complete forms, perform basic arithmetic, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to conduct sales transactions, use computerized cash register software with keyboards and mouse.

Weekend availability is required.

Minimum education not required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Lived experience with systems of disenfranchisement.

Demonstrated experience in solving practical problems in a changing work environment.

Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with diverse audiences, & working with diverse populations.

Previous experience working in human services, volunteer coordination, and/or with reuse or retail operations.

Ability to safely use hand tools.

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.

Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.

Occasional evening availability preferred.

Current New York Driver license preferred with a clean record.

COMPENSATION:

Wage is $16-$17 hourly, dependent on experience. This position is full-time at 35 hours per week.
