We're looking for a teacher or experienced counselor near Prospect Park to facilitate an outdoor activity group of (mostly) boys ages 12-14 this fall. The group will have up to 10 kids. Everyone will wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. Meetups will be on the east side of the park. This will be 3 hours each weekday, probably 1 to 4pm (possibly more). The students attend different public schools and will be doing online schoolwork in the mornings.
The goal of this group is to provide fun social activities/enrichment during the pandemic. Several of the kids are interested in debate, offbeat engineering challenges, anima/manga, obstacle courses, battling with foam swords, and strategy games. The ideal human will be someone who can accommodate these or other interests while being able to come up with and implement a semi-structured plan. (We're not looking for a babysitter.)
Experience with special ed students or restorative justice practices a plus. (Some of the boys have ADHD.)
