We are a small, local, non-corporate learning center seeking an instructor to join our dynamic, friendly, and collaborative team. Our tutors work one-on-one with students of all ages and skill levels across various academic subjects and standardized tests. Compensation is highly competitive, and most sessions are currently online. However, there may be occasions to meet with students in person. Therefore, candidates must be located in New York City.
We are especially interested in candidates with the ability to teach standardized test prep (ACT/SAT) and math up to precalculus, but the ideal candidate will also have strong English writing skills. You must be willing to sign a contract committing to the end of June 2025, when the public school school year concludes. We are willing to train candidates with minimal tutoring experience who have a high level of comfort interacting with children.
We have perfected the art of one-on-one remote tutoring and provide training to equip our instructors with methods and techniques that maximize the efficiency of online sessions. We customize our tutoring approach to each student's unique needs, making patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills crucial to success. Because training and tutoring are conducted online, candidates must have home access to a laptop or desktop computer with a camera, printer, and reliable internet service.
We offer flexible hours, with opportunities to tutor as few as 6 hours per week or up to 20+ hours. We only consider applicants who can start immediately and commit through the end of June 2022. Hours during the summer are flexible, and if you work beyond this year we are happy to accommodate summer vacation plans. Please do not apply if you can't commit to the full school year.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Friendly, outgoing personality
Undergraduate degree
Strong math skills (up to pre-calculus)
Available to tutor at least two to three weekdays between 3pm and 8pm, and/or a few hours on weekends

We offer competitive compensation, flexible hours, and a supportive, positive work environment where we value our instructors. If you are enthusiastic, reliable, punctual, and eager to make a difference in students' lives, we’d love to hear from you!
