Our client, a large pension/retirement manager is seeking a Lead Data Analyst for a long term (2+ years minimum) contract assignment in downtown Manhattan. The position is fully remote now but will change to onsite when Covid is over. You can come onboard as our W2 or independent contractor.
A Senior Data Analyst is required to profile source data and analyze, design, develop, and test functionality that will prepare data for migration to the new target system. The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders (operational business managers, project managers, business analysts, subject matter experts and other members of the Data Readiness Team) to identify data issues that affect migration of data to the new target system and bridging of data between the legacy system and new system.

Responsibilities Allocation:
  • 60% Data Analysis and documentation (including data migration analysis, data profiling, test data standards, etc.)
  • 25% Develop Data Remediation Requirements (including gathering data requirements, applying data standards, solution definition)
  • 10% Assist developers and manual cleanup teams with Remediation Plans
  • 5% Communication with Program management, development teams, systems administrators
With a high degree of independence, can perform analysis tasks related to Data Readiness Assessment
  • Manage, execute, or collaborate on complex projects related to Data Readiness and Remediation
    • Perform in-depth research and analysis to gain an understanding of business, systems or operational context of data
    • Apply best practices for data assessment, migration and remediation efforts
    • Formulate issue resolution and execute solution delivery
With a high degree of independence, supports all Target System development efforts through analysis, exploration and Mitigation of the Source System Data for data migration and cleansing:
  • Review and analyze business requirements and/or user stories for future data migration and data cleansing needs.
  • Document data migration requirements in the form of a formal Data Mapping Matrix to be used by developers to develop and execute the system migrations.
  • Liaison with programmers to gain knowledge, from a data perspective, of new functionalities being built on the new modernized system.
  • Analyze and document remediation of data issues based on the data to be used in the new system.
With a high degree of independence, ensures that data issues identified by Business Units and analysis during development efforts are resolved and managed satisfactorily.
  • By assisting the Data Quality Manager in the development and implementation of approaches and plans for the Data Issues.
  • By communicating effectively with IT staff and the DQM manager to discuss the scope of data issues.
  • Liaison with Business Unit SME’s, Process Owners, and other groups to get related business rules and information on data in the development of specifications for data cleanup.
  • Perform data analysis where requirements need to be derived from available documentation, user interviews and file specifications/samples

Qualifications:
  • Advanced Analytical Skills
  • Solid T-SQL ad-hoc query coding skills
  • Solid understanding of Relational Database architectures
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a self-motivated, self directed manner within broad parameters
  • Ability to quickly bring others up to speed, to pass on knowledge, skills and responsibilities to a successor and teammates
  • Knowledge of pension administration is a plus
  • Knowledge of structured project management and system development methodologies
  • Ability to act as a Business Analyst and extract, document and analyze data based on feedback from subject matter experts.
  • Quality assurance of procedures / systems from a data perspective including data audits.

Experience / Certifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience working on Data Issues analysis and Cleansing projects with progressively increasing responsibilities in Data Management is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with SQL Server Databases, and SQL
  • Experience leading and facilitating working sessions
  • Participation in a diversified range of successful projects that demonstrate possession of required skills listed above
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
  • Certification Programs from ICCP - Institute for the Certification of Computing Professionals is preferred
  • Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP) is preferred
