Job Description

The Director, Solution Engineering oversees our Analytics Solution Engineering department within the Americas region. This role is responsible for the management and growth of the Analytics SE organization including hitting revenue targets, supporting sales cycles, driving customer success, training, recruiting, mentoring and development. This role will work closely with the Sales organizations to meet their short and long-term goals and coordinate resource allocation to resolve resource conflicts. The Director, Solution Engineering collects and organizes feedback about sales opportunities, employees, product features, competition, processes and methodologies across the Americas region. This position has responsibility for keeping the SE department trained and motivated to perform and meet its goals. As a member of the senior leadership team of the Solution Engineering organization, develops innovative concepts and promotes new ideas to better the organization as a whole.

• Oversee Solution Engineering department including responsibility for the hiring, development, retention, utilization and management of the SEs and its leadership roles.
• Monitor current, historical, and predicted future utilization and activities of the SE team
• Partner with Operations and HR to outline staffing needs
• Define and refine ongoing SE processes
• Create effective training documentation
• Lead mid-year and annual review process
• Facilitate cross-team initiatives (Conferences, product betas, live online training, etc.)
• Partner with Senior Sales Leaders to meet revenue and other organizational goals
• Communicate regularly with sales leadership regarding sales strategy and trends
• Develop pipeline of candidates to recruit and hire
• Use Tableau’s products to quickly and expertly answer customers’ questions about their data
• Provide presales support for prospects and customers
• Become an expert in the features, benefits and application of Tableau, Alteryx and Snowflake products
• Use Tableau’s products and other technologies to analyze and address internal metrics

Qualifications

• Experienced. 10-15 years of professional Presales experience & 10+ years professional managerial experience. BS/BA in Business, Math, Economics, Engineering, or other technical and quantitative fields is desired.

• Leader. Demonstrated people development and teamwork skills. Skilled at solving problems from technical to organizational to personnel challenges.

• Domain . Proven expertise and success in presales, analytics, and/or software sales roles.

• Technical. Excellent technical and analytical skills including Data science and statistical tools (SQL, Python, R, Matlab, etc.), Data prep tools (Alteryx, Informatica, etc.) & Programming (JavaScript, Java, C, etc.).

• Excellent Communication. Strong presentation and demonstration skills to both business and technical audiences + Excellent written and oral communication skills. Extremely well organized.
