RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Java Developer in New York, NY.
Job Description
We are seeking a strong coder with experience navigating and understanding complex code. The typical workday includes participating in daily scrums and other agile ceremonies while carving out your own path to improve existing code bases through fixing defects and coding new security-related features. In this role, the Java Developer will perform and scrutinize security scans of production java code seeking to understand, interpret, and fix the vulnerabilities, which range from updating 3rd party dependency libraries, to making code changes. The Java Developer will work closely with other engineers who will help you with onboarding and navigating the existing source code. However, they must be self-driven and able to figure things out on their own.
REQUIREMENTS:
BS degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
Minimum of 2 to 4 years of software development experience
Technical Skills:
Expertise in Java and object-oriented programming
Strong knowledge on data structures and algorithms
Experience developing RESTful and SOAP services in Java and Spring
Experience developing applications with Spring Boot and Tomcat
Exceptional debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills
Experience setting up and maintaining distributed apps with Unix/Linux environments
Experience using applicable tool sets (Eclipse/IntelliJ, GIT, Postman)
Strong proficiency with data manipulation language (including but not limited to SQL and/or MySQL) including optimization techniques
Strong experience with build automation tools like Maven or Gradle
Familiarity with thread safety and multi-threaded development patterns
Ability to identify and resolve complex bugs
Good oral and written communications skills
The following skills would be a plus:
DevOps techniques and deployment using docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, etc.)
