Lecturer of Social Studies & EducationApply nowJob no: 504624Position type: FT LecturerLocation: New YorkCategories: Academic Advising/SupportThe Program in Social Studies at Teachers College, Columbia University seeks a Lecturer of Social Studies & Education.Responsibilities: The Lecturer will be assigned 4 to 5 courses over two semesters in Social Studies education for in-service and pre-service teachers. The Lecturer will also take the lead in advising our Masters programs that run throughout the calendar year. The ideal candidate will be a person with an earned doctorate or a conferred degree by September, 2019 while having substantial experience as a Social Studies teacher educator in a diverse, metropolitan area. The candidate will also have experience and knowledge of the intricacies of placements in urban settings along with contemporary policy issues affecting teacher education, namely edTPA, Common Core, PARCC and teacher evaluation.Qualifications:REQUIRED: Earned doctorate by September, 2019 in Social Studies education or closely related field; a minimum of three years teaching experience in public or private, grades 6-12 schools. Preferred qualifications include experience with urban education and teacher placement in a metropolitan area.
