Job Description

Uphold asset quality by performing a robust and thorough review of loans in the bank’s loan portfolio. Contribute to a collaborative and productive environment with Business Units, Credit Risk and other areas involved in the credit quality monitoring process.

Evaluate the credit quality of commercial and real estate loans by performing a rigorous in-depth analysis and assign accurate risk ratings. Determine the borrower’s financial strength, collateral quality and probability of loan repayment, as well as compliance with approved covenants and credit conditions and the bank’s Credit Policy.

  • Review individual loans based on a sample derived from different portfolio segments after the loans have been seasoned appropriately and determine if a change of the existing risk rating is warranted.

  • Write a comprehensive Loan Review Summary reflecting the findings of the analysis and the reasons for assigning the risk rating.

  • Review loan documents including Credit Agreements, Line Letters, Subordination Agreements, Guaranties, etc. and determine consistency with loan terms reflected on Credit Approvals.

  • Communicate to the lending areas credit condition exceptions as well as the need and reasons for risk rating changes as a result of loan reviews when applicable

  • Follow up on condition exceptions and required risk rating changes by updating regularly the Follow-up Log.

  • Monitor past due loans, factoring over-advances/over-lines etc.

  • Compile and provide information as requested by Federal and State Banking Regulators, as well as internal and external auditors.

  • Participate in department projects and initiatives as required.

  • Prepare and circulate departmental reports as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5years full timeexperienceas a loan review analyst, credit risk analyst, senior credit credit analyst, financial analyst commercial loan underwriter or commercial loan officer with a commercial bank or a field examiner with a bank regulatory agency.
  • Formal Credit Training from a major commercial bank is desirable.
  • Familarity with real estate/construction lending is a plus.

  • BS degree in Accounting / Finance or business related field

  • Working knowledge of commercial credit systems as well as corporate financial systems (i.e., Loans and Deposit Balances, Collateral & Doc Tracking).
  • Proficient in MS Office and other productivity software tools with a minimum intermediate level knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent research and analytical capabilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort working with and supporting the Business Units
  • Familiarity with legal documentation is a plus
