Sr. Cyber Security Specialist:

Position Summary
Implements and oversees Cyber security systems and procedures for a midsize company with a multi-location North American footprint.
Provide operational backup support to the Director Telecommunications and Network Services.


Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Designs and utilizes security applications to understand and mitigate risk. Utilize computer network defense (CND) tools to enhance an optimal level of security
  • Performs / oversees security measures to prevent intrusion, vulnerabilities, and other threats. Evaluates detection, firewall, and traffic log data to identify patterns and trends
  • Oversees revamped EDR platform, 3rd party SOC partnership and expanded identity authentication
  • Oversees security assessments, product integration, and penetration testing
  • Audits security networking to ensure compliance. Evaluate new and existing security software technologies to enhance network application security.
  • Ensures confidential data is secure (i.e. proprietary network information)
  • Designs and develops network security procedures which include firewall, software, hardware, server, and topology related operations
  • Conducts / oversees firewall, router, and component configuration across the security network.
  • Supports, monitors, and troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct security related malfunctions and other operational difficulties

General/Other Responsibilities and Duties:
  • When directed by the CIO perform specified R&D analysis
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field. Technical certifications in the System Administration and/or Network Security disciplines a plus
  • A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience providing Level 1,2 and 3 support across a blend of Cyber / Network Security and System Operations
  • Performs work under general supervision. Can work independently. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and possesses the ability to frame more complex issues for higher level analysis. Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to Help Desk support team
  • Ability to deliver professional technical customer support remotely
  • Ability to read, understand and apply complex technical information and to master new computer technology
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal clients and external vendors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to identify root cause related to problems
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Works in both a client's office environment and home office
  • Frequently sits for long periods of time
  • Extensive use of voice and email systems
