Position Overview:


Google I/O is an annual developer conference held by Google. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) you will be working to ensure the I/O website and its underlying infrastructure launches smoothly, timely and safely. You will be closely working and collaborating with Google engineers, product managers and marketing. You will also be working with a vendor agency developing I/O website and defining UX/UI.


The role is a very cross functional role. To be able to effectively program manage it requires deep technical understanding of the infrastructure and very strong program management skills. You will be managing operations and launch of many features while ensuring seamless user experience and high reliability of the infrastructure.


Job responsibilities


Develop and maintain project plans, critical paths, trackers for successful launch of infrastructure and website. Implement strict program management tools, processes, and communication models to track deliverables and deliver timely, quality results. Create dashboards, scripts, and tools to improve the software development process. Track progress of engineering team to ensure timely launch (tight timelines) Utilize technical judgement and to understand technicalities of infra and represent eng team in technical discussions Identify the presence of technical blockers or issues, navigate the complexity and also lead resolution of the issue or blocker. Identify risks to timelines, delivery or safety and appropriately raise red flags Lead privacy, security and legal reviews

Skill/Experience/Education
Mandatory


BA/BS degree in Computer science or equivalent experience. 7+ years of relevant experience, such as technical program management or technical project management. Experience working with development methodologies, such as scrum or agile. Experience working with Github, AppEngine, Firebase. Experience managing execution and working with software engineers and product managers. Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills. Ability to manage numerous infrastructure projects simultaneously and drive them to successful completion, with a wide range of stakeholders and tight timelines. Passion to learn new tools and processes


Desired


3-5 years of relevant experience, such as website development. Recent experience developing software in Python, HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or any C-style language, Proficiency in a Unix environment. Prior experience of working with Google
