In addition to our retail HQ in Pleasantville, we bring our love of cheese to the weekend farmer’s markets in Chappaqua, Bronxville, Pelham and Irvington. Specializing in small-batch, farmstead cheeses, Second Mouse takes pride in supporting the efforts of America’s independent cheesemakers and truly believes in the value of shopping and producing locally.
THE JOB
We’re seeking Westchester-based Farmer’s Market Sales help for our Saturday and/or Sunday farmers markets in Chappaqua, Bronxville, Pelham and Irvington. Running until late November, the Saturday markets open around 8:30am and the Sunday markets start at 9:00am, running until 1-1:30pm. The job starts with picking up the day’s cheese selection and supplies at the Pleasantville store, then driving 15-30 minutes to the market. Once on location, our set-up takes about 30- 45 minutes. After closing, you’ll head back to the store to resupply for the following day. At the markets we do extensive sampling, offering our customers the chance to try 6-8 cheeses weekly. To maintain our high service standards, we need mature individuals with the ability to take responsibility and work independently. We’ll teach you all you need to know about our cheeses, but previous farmer’s market or restaurant/food experience is a big plus. Other responsibilities include operating a point of sale system and handling cash; setting up/breaking down tent setup, and safely managing our delicate inventory. And as we continue to grow, opportunities for management and advancement will be available.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Farmers markets or other food experience and interested in learning all about cheese/fine foods.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to transport inventory/supplies.
Desire and ability to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Professional references (and yes, we do check them.)
Reliable and able to work independently.
Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
