The Sous Chef will be responsible for weekly food orders and daily kitchen supervision. Maintenance and cleanliness of the entire kitchen as well as proper food handling is required during all hours. Proper leadership skills as well as ability to train, communicate, and maintain a low cost of food and labor are essential tasks that are performed on a daily basis. The Sous Chef has a keen eye for detail, has exceptional verbal skills, and is able to perform well while under pressure. He or she is also incredibly creative with new recipe and has advanced knowledge of plating and can creatively come up with daily/weekly specials that coincide with the Friend of a Farmer brand.
The Sous Chef will correspond directly with the executive chef, FOH management team, as well as ownership. Weekly and sometimes daily meetings are required and, as such, an advanced understanding on the importance of communication with his or her team is not only important but expected.
Qualifications:
3+ years experience as a sous chef or similar
3+ years experience as a line cook
3+ years experience in a commercial kitchen
1+ years experience in a NYC Kitchen
Food Handlers Certificate
Flexible/Open Hours/Availability
Graduate of a culinary school or equivalent
Preferred but not required:
Experience in American or French fare
Experience in high volume restaurants
