Wakuwaku is a relaxed and warm Japanese izakaya restaurant the perfect escape from the city bustle located in Japan Village in Sunset Park, Brooklyn's Industry City. Our menu highlights classic Japanese comfort foods and a wide array of fun drinks. The adjacent cocktail bar is Oldies, an intimate yet casual, old-school Japanese influenced cocktail bar highlighting bright cocktails using freshley-squeezed fruits, highballs with a twist, seasonal drinks and more!
We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a bar and restaurant manager! This individual must be a driven hospitality leader to maintain highest standards of hospitality at Wakuwaku & Oldies.
MANAGER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have at least two years of restaurant experience
- Flexible schedule, able to work on site Wednesday through Sunday from 11AM - 9PM (11PM on Friday and Saturday) and assist with opening, service, and closing procedures
- Strong interest and/or thorough knowledge in Japanese food, drink, language and culture a plus
- Responsible for the implementation of our restaurant’s policies and procedures, DOH standards (food handler's license will be required), as well as any state and city COVID-19 safety mandates
- Staff management including hiring, training and scheduling
- Processing of weekly payroll for all staff; cash handling and reconciliation
- Maintenance of a seasonal, up to date menu on all relevant web platforms (website, our QR code ordering platform, Yelp, Google, GrubHub) and printed copies for display at the restaurant
- Reservation management through our preferred platform, Resy
- Weekly food and beverage ordering with an understanding of food and beverage cost control; inventory tracking
- Ability to field inqueries about and, where appropriate, to coordinate private/special events including bar and restaurant buy-outs
- A creative drive for possible collaborations and events with brands
- Ability to multi-task and speak confidently about all menu items
- Close communication with kitchen team and reponsiveness to their supply and general needs
- Proof of COVID vaccination required
