While We Were Young is seeking Sous Chef for our established West Village restaurant and craft cocktail bar. Come be part of something truly different. We are looking for candidates who have a strong work ethic, great attitude and want to create something special! We are a 26(indoor) 20(outdoor) seat restaurant that serves healthy contemporary American, but take influences from all types of cuisines. Our kitchen is on the small side, so it would be great if you understand what it takes to work in one. Cleanliness and good organization is a must. Looking for someone who has strong food knowledge for not only the basics, but isn't afraid to try something new.

Great opportunity for someone looking to jump up from Lead Line Cook position or someone who has completed culinary school. Candidates must be creative and have a pulse on new trends.

Must Have current DOH food handlers license and understand health codes.

Ability to create menu items from scratch(We serve brunch(Friday/Sat/Sun and dinner 7 days a week).

Strong communication with management and staff.

Understanding food cost and proper reporting.

Clean and efficient

Culinary degree is preferred, but not required.
