Job Description

The Role

CAA is seeking an assistant to support an Agent in our Book Publishing department. This Agent specializes in exceptional storytelling in all forms, but particularly young adult fiction and narrative nonfiction, including memoirs, books by cultural influencers and high profile thought leaders. This is the perfect opportunity for a self-starter to enhance their knowledge of the industry while working at a dynamic and collaborative entertainment agency. The assistant plays a vital role in keeping the business running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support, including heavy phones, coordinating meetings, schedules and travel, preparing expense reports, and producing correspondence

  • Review submissions and write reader reports

  • Track contracts and payments

  • Serve as first point of contact with clients and executives and should possess a professional, customer-service attitude

  • Assist with special projects, research, and compiling information as needed

Qualifications

  • BA/BS from an accredited University or College or equivalent work experience required

  • 1 year of experience working as an assistant in the publishing industry preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Solution-oriented, extremely organized, and the ability to think strategically

  • Ability to juggle a multitude of tasks

  • Interest in nonfiction, as well as an eye for the occasional great fiction project, is essential

  • Ability to stay “one step ahead” at all times

  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized

  • Adept at problem solving and thinking quick on his/her feet

  • Ability to perform well under pressure

  • Team oriented
