DESCRIPTION

Job summary
Prime Video is building the future of TV for customers in over 200 countries to enjoy an endless selection of movies, shows and sports on their TV, mobile devices and desktop. We deliver high-quality video to Amazon customers through subscriptions (Amazon Prime, and Channels) as well as purchases, rentals, and free with ads. Amazon believes so deeply in the mission of Video that we've launched our own studio to create original and exclusive content. Every day we face the challenges of a fast-paced market and expanding technology set. We build apps for the web, mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs, game consoles, and set top boxes. Using advanced machine learning and data mining techniques, we help our customers discover the best movies and TV shows. We measure data in Petabytes and streaming in Exabytes. We obsess over big picture problems like "How do we deliver video that's more reliable than the internet it's delivered over?" to low level details like "How do we squeeze maximum picture quality out of every bit delivered?" We strive to be on the forefront of new consumer technologies like UHD TV and High Dynamic Range video. We build huge scale distributed systems on the AWS cloud to make sure our service is always reliable for our customers. We use computer vision and machine learning techniques to build rich metadata about videos, and partner closely with teams like IMDb to let customers explore deeper into the TV and movies they love. In short, we're inventing the new paradigm for finding and enjoying video content in an industry that's doubling every year, and you can be a part of it.

Prime Video's Content Discovery Experiences team is focused on building services that curate and deliver the Prime Video storefront to customers. Ours services allow customers to find something new to watch from our vast selection of movies, TV and live events, while also ensuring customers are aware of our exclusive Amazon Originals. This is a key driver of customer satisfaction that impacts business metrics on customer acquisition and retention with our team driving hundreds of millions of incremental revenue. Technologically, our space is comprised of large-scale distributed systems totaling a million transactions per seconds and hundreds of billions of impressions per month. We do all this while maintaining high availability and low latency for customers. We believe the current customer experience is only scratching the surface of innovative experiences that are made possible as TV viewing continues to shifts online, and begins to leverage the advancements in data driven algorithms and flexible UI frameworks. It's very much Day 1 for Prime Video.

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead an engineering team that owns some of Prime Video's most critical software, which is responsible for curating and delivering our storefront to customers. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work across Prime Video to help deliver the next generation of our customer experience. You will ensure that your software is able to meet and scale to the evolving needs of Prime Video. As an SDM, you recruit, hire and lead software development engineers. You will define and own the vision and roadmap for your team. You will lead your team in the execution and delivery of that vision. You will set a high bar for operations within your team and own the metrics for your software and programs.
