FASTSIGNS of Forest Hills is seeking an experienced Sign Fabricator & Installer to lead our production of electrical and dimensional signage. We are looking for a true craftsman who understands the mechanics of custom sign fabrication i.e. building channel letters, lightboxes, and custom displays from scratch.
If you have experience in bending metal, wiring LEDs, and installing electrical signage, wood & acrylic fabrication we want to talk to you.
Core Responsibilities:
Fabrication (Metal, Wood & Plastic): Fabricate channel letters (reverse and front-lit) and lightboxes and custom signage and displays. This includes bending returns, attaching backs/faces, and working with aluminum extrusions, wood and acrylic.
Electrical Assembly: Layout and install LED modules, power supplies, and wiring for illuminated signs.
Assembly: Operate shop tools including metal breaks, notchers, shears, saws, and drills to construct sign cabinets and frames.
Vinyl & Print: Assist with general production when needed (applying vinyl to faces, laminating, weeding).
Installation: Travel to client sites to install electrical signs, including making necessary electrical connections and securing signs to various building facades (brick, masonry, wood).
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with existing illuminated signs (e.g., swapping out power supplies or bad LED modules).
Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience specifically in sign fabrication (Channel Letters/Cabinets).
Electrical Knowledge: Solid understanding of low-voltage (12V/24V) wiring, UL standards, and connecting signs to primary power sources.
Should be able to read blueprints, shop drawings and technical drawings.
Manual Skills: Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in metalworking and carpentry.
Driver’s License: A clean, valid driver’s license is mandatory for driving the bucket truck or install van.
Physical: Comfortable working at heights (ladders/bucket trucks) and lifting heavy materials (50+ lbs).
Attitude: Problem-solver mindset—able to look at a raw material and a design and figure out how to build it structurally.
Work would entail conducting surveys, installing and servicing exterior signs, interior signs and inside the shop work, etc,
Bilingual: English and Spanish is a big plus
