Senior Azure SQL DBA – cloud database engineer
Background - MS SQL DBA
Experience: must have 10+ years
Last 4-5 yrs., focused on Azure SQL.
Solid understanding of Azure cloud, Azure SQL database, and on-prem to cloud database migration. SQL or Azure certifications are a plus.
Location: New York/ or New Jersey– On-site; If the candidate is in New York, New Jersey, or Philadelphia, we can consider Remote only then. We can discuss this thing on initial contact.
Duration: one year+ It can be extended.
Must have USA work authorization
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of experience as a database administrator in a Microsoft SQL environment
3+ years of hands-on experience in a live production environment with Azure SQL databases (PaaS), including securing, monitoring, and scaling
5+ years of experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience writing, using and monitoring Azure Data Factory pipelines.
Experience with other Azure data services is a plus (Cosmos DB, Table Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.…)
Nice to have Experience with Snowflake is a big plus.
Experience with third-party SQL monitoring tools
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Prior experience working remotely preferred.
SQL or Azure certifications are a plus

• We seek a motivated Cloud DBA with prior experience designing, managing, and administering Azure SQL databases, who will provide leadership for and work closely with others to ensure the database environments meet the applications and business needs.
• As a Senior Cloud DBA, you will work to create and maintain database-related best practices. You will act as the SQL subject matter expert to provide guidance and advice to management related to the database infrastructure. In addition, along with the rest of the data team, you will focus on production support, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, managing database-related Azure resources, supporting development in their database-related work and deployments, documenting data footprint, processes, and automating currently manual processes.

  What you will be responsible for Provide leadership within the Data team to build database systems within Azure for performant, secure, and highly available databases for our applications and reporting systems
  Manage database resources and Azure Data Factory pipelines in Azure
  Monitor and configure relevant alerts for database resources, SQL metrics, and Data Factory pipelines
  Quickly identify and troubleshoot production issues.
  Provide database-related support to developers and stakeholders in all environments
  Mentor and provide direction for junior DBAs
  Work with developers on database questions and new objects/features, providing suggestions and information on best practices.
  Participate in deployments as needed, promoting SQL changes from environment to environment
  Performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries
  Ensure availability of databases by creating and maintaining policies for backups and disaster recovery
  Document database environments and processes
  Identify and automate manual processes
