Pension & Benefits Analyst, Knowledge Resource Centre “ Canada

DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Seeking a mid-level pension analyst to join Bucks Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC). Bucks global KRC team provides multi-practice legal consulting, publications, research, surveys, training, compliance and knowledge management services. Using various mediums including tools, publications, presentations, and its website KRC helps clients and consultants understand important legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments in the HR field.

Reporting to the Canadian KRC Leader, the successful candidate will help the KRC teams work supporting Bucks actuaries and consultants in providing consulting and plan administration support to clients. Responsibilities include:

Drafting pension plan texts and plan amendments, both for defined benefit and defined contribution plans;

Advising on Income Tax Act rules and requirements relating to registered pension plans, individual pension plans and benefit plans;

Interpreting and applying provincial and federal legislation and regulations as they apply to pension plan provisions, contemplated plan design changes, and specific transactions (e.g. conversion and wind-up);

Preparing various plan administration forms, including beneficiary designation, spousal status, member notice and member option forms;

Interpreting legislative and regulatory requirements applicable to pension division on marriage breakdown, payment of death benefits and garnishment/seizure of assets;

Interpreting and applying provincial and federal legislation and regulations as they apply to employee benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will:

Have knowledge of federal and provincial laws impacting the delivery of pension and employee benefits in Canada, including pension standards, employment standards and income tax legislation;

Possess at least 5 years of relevant experience obtained from a HR consulting firm, law firm, accounting firm or relevant government agency;

Possess strong organizational and be able to manage and meet deadlines;

Be able to work both independently and as part of a team;

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills; and

Enjoy working in a collaborative environment that values thinking outside the box.
