Job Summary:Under the direction of the DON, the RCS has 24-hour responsibility for
the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and
procedures of the hospital and the nursing home and their effect on
resident care in a designated unit. The RCS has authority to make
decisions on that unit in the areas of resident care, human resource,
and financial management.Job Qualifications:Education - Current registration as RN in NYS (or eligibility to do so)B.S. with concentration in nursing preferredExperience - 2 years long term care clinical experience preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrated clinical competence in
relevant area of nursing practice. Demonstrated leadership ability and
potential managerial competency. Evidence of this includes, but is not
limited to, effective communication skills (written and verbal), ability
to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to
confront/resolve issues, ability to motivate others, ability to plan,
organize, and direct the activities of others.Physical Requirements - Stand/walk 6-8 hours, sit 2-4 hours, bend,
squat, reach, lift, push, pull, carry up to 1/3 of the time. Weight
lifted/force exerted 25 pounds 1/3 or more of the time.Licenses/Certifications - Current NYS license to practice as an RN. BSN
preferred.Essential Functions:-Assists the DON in development, implementation, and evaluation of
on-going service programs that assure quality nursing and resident care
programs consistent with FoxCare mission.-Participates in program development proposal as requested by DON.-Monitors/Maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and
hospital policy for resident services, and environmental and personnel
safety.-Oversees unit CQI programs that monitors and evaluates critical aspects
of care.-Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and
implements solutions with follow-through and communication.-Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the
initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.-Fosters a service that is consistent with the resident care beliefs and
shared management philosophy of the department.-Consults with residents/families though primary nurse request, direct
family request, and/or direct assessment of resident/family response to
condition change. Assesses resident/significant other survey responses
regarding nursing care and services.-Responsible for on-going development of staff and unit specific
resident care programs.-Responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of department
operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial
resources.-Responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department
delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies.-Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive
employee relations.-Promotes a positive image of professional nursing and serves as a role
model to staff.-Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time
frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.-Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her
responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety,
and specific job-related hazards.-Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne
pathogens.-Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all residents,
families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional,
responsible, and courteous environment.-Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a
department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the
department's/ unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.-Accepts Supervisor assignment as requested.-Provides resident education as needed.-Accepts charge responsibility as directed.-Performs medication administration in an efficient manner as needed.
