The Account Director leads his/her accounts autonomously. He/she is responsible for the management of the account including staffing, profitability, and client satisfaction. As a director, this individual will be an active participant on the agency's Strategic Planning Committee; helping to set the future course of Butler/Till and drive our continued success. BUTLER/TILL'S VISIONFOR THIS POSITION At Butler/Till, Account Directors are highly skilled marketing professionals that oversee all aspects of an account or multiple accounts including strategic planning, media planning/buying/execution, creative development/production and account administration. He/she must manage and motivate direct reports and cross-functional teams to continually deliver exceptional work to our clients. He/she is focused on the client(s) business goals and actively pursues and presents creative ideas to help them meet their stated objectives. As a senior member of the agency, Account Directors are also integral to developing the strategic direction of the agency, training/mentoring junior staff, and developing processes and services models that ensure Butler/Till will continue our trajectory of success. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Depending on the account structure (which may vary), the account director may manage a team of Account Executives or Assistant Account Executives. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable federal/state laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Responsible for the strategic direction and tactical consultation on large, high-revenue account and/or multiple accounts. Partner with clients (and their partner agencies or vendors) on idea generation and strategic planning activities and deliverables. Develop account forecasts and oversee/manage account finances; provide updates on revenue projections and profitability to CFO and senior management. Possess deep understanding of all media types (traditional, digital, social, experiential, etc.) in order to lead the development of integrated marketing/media strategies for our clients. Possess a deep understanding of the client's business and category and builds similar understanding with agency. Responsible for agency performance and general vitality of the agency/client relationship. Lead development of scope of work and client metrics; review campaign performance reports as outlined in the scope of work and provide ongoing consultation to account team to improve campaign performance. Engage clients in forward-looking program planning; partner with creative and media teams (and other internal/external resources when necessary) to develop these communication solutions. "Listen" for client challenges, establish context and leverage agency resources to resolve. Set clear team priorities; communicate brand objectives and strategies; anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks; define success in terms of the whole team. Actively participate in strategic media and creative client presentations, presenting to articulate Butler/Till's point of view. Ensure effective communication with/between all departments and with all client contacts in order to resolve conflict, celebrate success, and achieve strong team and client relationships. Ensure successful adoption/utilization of Butler/Till's processes and documentation guidelines; keep management apprised of critical client concerns and opportunities. Provide training support to new team members who are acclimating to the brand, technology and/or agency. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the account. Motivate and lead internal and external resources, build good relationships with various teams and keep them focused on quality deliverables, timelines and budgets. Present complex information both orally and in writing. Stay current of advertising trends (including social media, ad technologies, mobile, etc.) Facilitate teamwork by delegating and involving junior staff members whenever possible. Lead/assist senior management in developing proposals and gathering information for new business opportunities. Serve on agency Strategic Planning Committee and take a lead role in committee projects. Proactively support and participate in agency improvement initiatives. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 8-12 years of experience in the marketing, advertising, and/or media field; 3-5 years of supervisory experience Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing or a related field required. A combination of education, experience, revenue responsibility, and business need will be considered. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Agency and /or media sales experience preferred. Master's degree a plus. COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Word, Excel (including pivot tables), and PowerPoint. Experience with media planning and research tools preferred, including: MRI, comscore, Google AdWords/AdPlanner, and website analytics. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Excellent written and verbal skills, including public speaking. Independent and self-directed yet also team-oriented. Strong project management skills; must be well-organized with ability to multi-task. Flexible and intuitive personality who can manage complex internal and client relationships.
