Dual Posting: Position can be filled either Professional Actuary or Professional Actuary Analyst.
Professional Actuary:
Summary: The Actuary will support the functions/tasks of the Actuarial Department in a more advanced and independent capacity. The functions include any of the following: premium rate development and regulatory filings, financial forecasting, experience studies, monthly reserve setting, provider risk sharing analytics/contracting, model development and other duties as assigned.
The Actuary will be proficient in use and knowledge of large databases, Datamarts advanced excel modeling, SQL coding and other relevant programing languages in use by the Department. The Actuary will proactively and independently explore data/models in depth, draw conclusions and make recommendations to actuarial leadership demonstrating the desire and ability to advance analytics and business strategy and to solve complex problems. The Actuary will collaborate effectively across the organization in support of achieving department and corporate goals.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on coursework that supports analytical problem-solving skills.
Associate in the Society of Actuaries
Minimum Experience:
2 years of experience in actuarial analyst role
Required Skills:
Demonstrated broad understanding of health insurance products and markets and core functions of health insurance company
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in time-sensitive environment
Ability to work independently as well as work effectively as a member of a team
Demonstrated desire to innovate and drive process improvements
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Advanced Excel and DataMart and Database management skills
SQL and other relevant programming skills
Professional, Actuary Analyst:
Summary: The Actuarial Analyst will support the functions/tasks of the Actuarial Department. The functions include any of following: premium rate development and regulatory filings, financial forecasting, experience studies, monthly reserve setting, provider risk sharing analytics/contracting, model development and other duties as assigned. The Actuarial Analyst will work to become proficient in use and knowledge of the Actuarial Datamart and other relevant company data sources / dashboards, Excel and SQL coding and other relevant languages needed. The actuarial analyst will be expected to continuously grow their knowledge of MVP's products and markets as well as knowledge of various MVP departments and relationship with other key employees outside the department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on coursework that supports analytical problem-solving skills.
Minimum Experience:
Internship or full-time work experience in a business setting preferred.
Required Skills:
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in time-sensitive environment
Ability to work independently as well as work effectively as a member of a team
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Demonstrated effective communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Word
