Qualifications:
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS) SPECIALIST: A minimum of a University/Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Environmental, Health & Safety or related disciplines. Minimum of 2 years experience in Occupational Safety, Environmental Compliance, and/or Industrial Hygiene is required. Intermediate to expert MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required. Experience working with EHS data reporting and tracking systems is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Health & Safety), EPA and state regulations and on a local, state and federal level is required. Technical knowledge of occupational safety and environmental program components is required. Experience in identifying, evaluating and controlling environmental, health and safety risks in the workplace is required. Excellent influencing, planning, organizational and time management skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be a team player. This position requires periods of standing, production floor/facility mobility and ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to participate in site emergency response and related exercises is required.
Responsibilities:
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS) SPECIALIST: The EHS Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise on safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and environmental compliance as well as leading the environmental management systems. The EHS Specialist will have site responsibility for Operations, Quality, Product Support, Engineering, Facilities; however, will be expected to work across multiple functions including administrative support services. The EHS Specialist will work across the environmental, health and safety disciplines. S/He will provide company leadership and technical expertise on safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance issues and represent the site on internal networks. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for leading the occupational safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance and environmental sustainability programs; evaluate, plan and implement EHS program components, including the development and delivery of training materials; perform accident investigations and emergency response planning; develop EHS policies and programs for occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and/or environmental programs consistent with regulatory requirements and internal EHS standards; implement and manage EHS and project action plans, provide technical support to ensure corporate, business franchise and site goals are met; facilitate compliance audits and routine inspections; participate as the EHS representative in external audits and inspections by local government agencies; assure all records are properly maintained and reports are prepared/submitted in a timely manner; and develop and report site EHS metrics and key performance indicators. The EHS Specialist will provide management support to Company in the implementation and maintenance of the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 14001 Standard, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, OHSAS 18001, and internal EHS standards. Standards include but may not be limited to the following: Life Safety, Chemical Substance Management, Emergency Response, Noise and Hearing Conservation, Biosafety, Hazardous and Medical Waste, Electrical Safety, Fall Prevention, and as well as environmental programs relative federal, state and local regulations to ensure compliance with these requirements. The EHS Specialist will work under a moderate/limited level of supervision, assist with the establishment and maintenance of robust processes to identify, evaluate and control occupational safety and environmental risk in the workplace, as well as take on projects requiring knowledge of the occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and environmental programs from identification of potential risk, to analysis of the level of risk, to the implementation of appropriate control measures.
