Overview: Seeking a reliable, patient, cheerful individual to provide aid and companionship to an elderly woman. You will be asked to supply past time activities to keep client engaged such as conversation, games, entertainment. You will need to responsibly administer medication, monitor overall health, provide routine basic care, assist patient with person care and goals. You will need to serve meals which are largely pre-prepared, do any necessary housework, but mostly cater to the needs of the client.
- Monitor overall health
- Provide some enrichment for client. Things such as: playing cards (a must!), playing Scrabble (a plus), small craft projects, taking client for strolls (rolls) around the neighborhood, puzzles, letter writing etc.
- Supervision for safety purposes
- Bathing & hands on personal hygiene care (occasional)
- Prompting and reminding to eat and take medications
- Companionship
- Meal preparation
- Occasional simple tasks and errands
This position has 30-40 hours per week available. Afternoon into evening work (for example, 2:30-8:30 M-F). Would prefer occasional weekend availability. Possible overnights with client. Schedule is flexible for the right candidate.
Qualifications:
- Reliable
- Cheerful, patient, industrious and self directed
- Eighteen (18) years of age required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license, and reliable means of transportation.
- Certification by an approved basic training program in home health aide services approved by the Department of Health and possess written evidence of such certification. OR relevant experience and references.
