HIGHPOWER Validation Testing & Lab Services, Inc., a Henrietta NY based validation laboratory is looking for a full time entry level lab assistant to help us keep up with our current growth. Candidate should be energetic and friendly and will provide laboratory support for a growing laboratory of technicians and scientist. The ideal candidate should have attention to detail, excellent communication skills, learn quickly and be a team player.
The chosen candidate will work directly for the companies Lab Manager and the Microbiology Department Study Director. The majority of responsibilities are in support of the lab staff and include but are not limited to:
Washing glassware
Preparing media (culture medium)
Preparing distilled water (sterilizing in lab equipment)
Processing lab waste (sterilizing in lab equipment)
General lab maintenance
Assist with calibration verification of lab equipment
Assist with maintaining lab equipment
Keeping an inventory of lab supplies
Stocking/ordering lab supplies
Light laboratory housekeeping according to company policy
Light data entry
May perform population and resistance verification on biological indicators (will be taught)
May perform inoculations of biological indicators (will be taught)
Assisting other staff with laboratory duties as required

Working hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday
Skills Required: Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel extremely beneficial. Experience with autoclaves and lab procedures is desirable, but not necessary. Must be well organized and teachable, able to pick up task quickly, be a team player and able to multi-task in a busy lab environment.
