Looking for seasonal work? Datrose and the Facilities Management Services (FMS) department at RIT are looking for hard-working individuals to fill several Groundskeeper Assistant seasonal positions. These roles are perfect for retirees, college students, Veterans using the G.I. Bill, or anyone looking to get their foot in the door with one of the top employers in the area.

Datrose has an exceptional opportunity to work on-site at The Rochester Institute of Technology in Henrietta, performing as a Groundkeeper Assistant. This is a full-time, temporary assignment that is scheduled to last until 4-6 months. The schedule for these positions could be between Sun-Sat either 6am-2:30pm or 2:30-11pm. Schedule will be determined by the candidates availability and the needs of the FMS Grounds department.

Job Duties:

Carry out FMS Grounds maintenance functions independently. Ability to cover for fulltime Grounds Department employees.

Job Responsibilities:

Care for the established lawns. This includes mowing, mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, and trimming/edging around flowerbeds, walks, or walls.

As directed, provide proper upkeep of hard surface areas including, sidewalks, concrete pavers, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other outdoor structures and amenities.

Trash and litter clean-up on campus.

Assist the Athletic Field Specialist in preparing all athletic fields for their use by RITs collegiate, club, and intramural teams.

Snow removal by shoveling or plowing.

Safely operate FMS Grounds equipment & vehicles to complete all assigned tasks.

Identify potentially dangerous situations and work to alleviate.

Repetitive bending and lifting.

Tolerance of weather extremes (hot and cold).

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED PLUS plus one year experience in outdoor all season work in commercial or university campus setting.

Skills:

Must have prior general grounds experience and basic mechanical aptitude

Complete assigned duties with minimal supervision

Must be reliable, dedicated and trustworthy

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds

Valid drivers license is required
