These roles are perfect for retirees, college students or Veterans using the G.I. Datrose has an exceptional opportunity to work on-site at The Rochester Institute of Technology in Henrietta, performing as a Grounds Keeper. This is a full-time, temporary assignment that is scheduled to last until the fall. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM.
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervisor of the Grounds Lead Mechanic, assist in all grounds mainteinance and improvements within all Housing Operatios run properties.
Job Responsibilities:
Cleanup of branches, leaves, trimmings, stone
Shoveling, digging post holes, moving stone
Edging mulch beds and spreading mulch
Planting trees, shrubs and flowers
Weeding and edging mulch beds
String trimming and push mowing borders, etc.
Filling potholes in asphalt areas and sinkholes around buildings
Small amount of furniture and appliance moving as necessary
Tree and hedge trimming
Understand MSDS sheets and safe work practices
Comply with OSHA, NYS Building Codes, EPA and DEC requirements
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED PLUS or 0 to 2 years experience in a similar industry with transferrable skills.
Skills:
Must have prior general grounds experience and basic mechanical aptitude
Must be reliable, dedicated and trustworthy
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Valid drivers license is required
