Laboratory Technician
Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment such as pipettors, autoclaves, etc. Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
Maintain cell lines and prepare reagents and solutions. Prepare chemicals and solutions using aseptic technique.
Perform flow cytometric analysis of research and client samples.
Help assemble bioassay kits.
Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 to 5 pm. Occasional weekend work.
Requirements:
A minimum of an A.S. in science is required.
Strong communication skills, including speaking and writing in a professional manner. Ability to work as part of a team, but also manage individual projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic laboratory skills including solution preparation, safe handling of chemicals, pipetting, aseptic technique, etc. Experience with cell culture, microscopy, flow cytometry, experimental design, and method development is desired, but not required.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, primarily in the Macintosh OS X environment. Familiarity with maintaining a laboratory notebook; experience with electronic notebooks is a bonus.
Good organizational skills, with the ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced research lab environment with changing priorities.
Knowledgeable about laboratory and chemical safety.
