Join us and together we will drive the future of health care.This is an exceptional opportunity to do innovative work that means more to you and those we serve.Students looking to obtain experience in the financial healthcare industry and in conducting audit related activity in accordance with Government Auditing Standards (GAS).Under guided supervision, the intern will gain experience in Medicare Part A Audit and Reimbursement as part of our Medicare Administrative Contract (MAC) with the Federal Government (The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) branch of the Department of Health and Human Services). The intern will also receive training, participate in audit related workload, be assigned a mentor, and be assigned special projects based on input from the Audit Intern and Management. Flexible work hours are allowed per class load. If the manager and the intern deem the internship to be a good fit for both parties, the internship will last longer than one semester with the opportunity for the intern to work additional hours during school breaks. The intern may have the opportunity to become a full-time employee after graduation.Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Participate in the Desk Review/Audit Process of Medicare cost reports submitted by hospitals and other providers enrolled in the Medicare Part A Program
Gain experience in preparing audit adjustment reports and detailed sets of work papers
Analyze data for reasonableness and compliance
Gain experience with Medicare part A Laws, regulations and CMS audit procedures
Perform additional assignments/projects as requested
Receive training provided on Medicare Part A reimbursement
Network with Healthcare Industry colleagues and entities
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Healthcare Management at an accredited college or university
Desire to work in health care or in performing financial/compliance audits
Possess strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to multi- task while independently and effectively prioritizing work using time management, initiative, project management and problem-solving skills
Be proficient in MS Office applications like MS-Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Ability to work on-site part-time (at least 12 hours per week; Monday-Friday; normal business hours)
Has ability to commute to our office on the northeast corner (Castleton area) of Indianapolis or Syracuse, NY
