Position Summary:

Seeking an individual with supervisory and leadership experience, as well as strong mental health clinical training and experience. The primary responsibility of this positon will be to lead a team of 4-6 therapists in implementing Multisystemic Therapy (MST). MST is a well-researched community-based treatment model directed at youth involved in criminal activity and their family. The Program Supervisor is also responsible for the daily management, administration and coordination of Tompkins County Family Support Services (FSS) and CPS/BH Collaboration in Tioga County. They will also engage FSS participants as a clinician to complete psychosocial assessments.

Essential Functions:

Carry clinical and administrative supervisory responsibilities for 1 MST team of 4 therapists, one part time FSS clinician, and 1 clinician in the CPS-BH program

Provides direct services to families as needed during case coverage

Conduct weekly group supervision and training for MST team to assure adherence to MST principles and the MST analytic process, and to assure clinician competency in implementation of interventions

Oversees and participates as a member of the Tomkins County Family Court treatment team to provide support as a mental health liaison

Conduct individual supervision to target clinician development and support

Oversee assessment process of staff in CPS-BH and FTC; reviewing assessments and supporting development of recommendations

Assure availability of clinical and administrative support to clinicians 24 hours/day, 7 days/week

Collaborate with stakeholders, both external in the community and within the provider agency. This includes, but is not limited to, DSS, Probation, school, mental health providers.

Make community presentations to provide education about MST treatment

Generate and manage case referrals and manage clinician caseloads

Collaborate actively with MST Expert around implementation of MST by the program, and to ensure continued development of own clinical skills and knowledge of relevant research

Manage and report data on clinical outcomes and program practices

Initiates personnel recruitment and participates in selection, provides supervision and annual performance evaluations to ensure high quality service.

Maintains and updates required records and documents for services provided.

Attends and participates in supervisory conferences, staff meetings, and orientation sessions as required. Serves as an effective communication link between program and the agency as a whole.

Complete Psychosocial Assessments on individuals entering TCFTC referred by Tompkins County Department of Social Services within 45 days of referral. This includes conducting assessments by gathering data from the client and collateral contacts, developing a DSM-V diagnosis for each client, completing an assessment which results in treatment recommendations for the client.

Required Skills and Experience

Clinical experience in treating serious antisocial behavior in youth

Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic and functional) family therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, and marital therapy.

Provision of group and individual clinical supervision

Leadership experience including hiring, performance evaluation, and holding supervisees accountable for performance

Training and collaboration with outside agencies

Assessment and diagnostic experience

Experience in the application of Family systems theory, Social ecological theory, trauma-informed approach, and strength based treatment

Child development research and its application in treatment

Qualifications:

Licensed Clinical Masters in Social Work preferred or related licensed clinical degree and three (3) years of experience. Prior clinical supervisory experience preferred. Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and with flexibility in days and hours of work.
