Where the Chemistry Happens

BASF is a leading manufacturer and supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients (excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients, APIs) to the global pharmaceutical industry.

BASF’s Pharma Solutions business (ENP) is part of BASF’s Nutrition and Health Division, which also consists of Human and Animal Nutrition and Aroma Chemicals.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional like you to demonstrate your experience in pharmaceutical product characterization techniques used in the pharmaceutical industry including, but not limited to, UV-Vis, Rheometer, DSC, TGA, HPLC, Disintegration, USP Dissolution, HPLC, XRD, and many others.

You will also be able to share your knowledge of formulation, film forming, polymer structure-property relationship, coating, drug dissolution, HPLC, project management, etc.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

Leveraging your education in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymers or Materials Science and your pharmaceutical industry or academic experience, you will perform laboratory work in preparation of prototype pharmaceutical formulations of oral solid and liquid products and in support of analytical testing of pharmaceutical projects.

Relying on your Pharmaceutical industry or academic experience in product development in instant and modified release, solubilization, softgels, or polymer-small molecule interactions, you will develop your technical knowledge about excipient functionality in oral formulations to promote the ENP business.

You will also use this experience to provide technical support to Sales and Marketing.

Utilizing your strong capability in project planning and execution, together with the ability to handle the complexity involved with multiple concurrent customer projects, you will create new solutions to address technical problems.

Your proven track record of scientific achievement and for translating scientific knowledge into effective technical applications will serve you well as you generate application data to support new product launches.

You will also generate new ideas and contribute to the innovation pipeline.

Serving as an effective team player, you will interact with the technical community, peers, and customers.

Your ability to work independently with minimal supervision will be a valued asset as you demonstrate your practical competence in the areas of granulation, tableting, coating (pan coating, fluidized coating), spray drying, melt extrusion, and product characterization with chromatography, dissolution, UV-Vis, particle size and microscopy.

Demonstrating your strong hands-on laboratory experience and skills, you will manage and maintain day-to-day activities in the lab (e.

g. ordering supplies, maintaining high safety standards, maintaining equipment and hardware, etc.) and supervise junior interns and scientists.

Your strong verbal and written communication skills will be essential as you draft technical reports, articles, conference abstracts and posters, and journal publications.
