Responsive to our Community is a 501c3 charity looking for individuals who would like to make construction their career field. No prior training is required for this position as training will be conducted through this program.

We are gutting and rehabbing an 11,000 sq/ft building in downtown Oneida. After the place is gutted, it will require new framing, bathrooms, kitchens, insulation, etc. In order to be eligible, you have to be a veteran or related to a veteran.

If you are new to construction labor, our on-the-job-training will be a basic, low level, 101 level training on many aspects of the construction business. Note: This is not a union organized program that is several years long that ends with official certifications. Areas that you may do work include:

Demolition: demolishes and moves or removes structures;

Framing: framing or rough carpentry necessary to construct framed apartments; installs or repairs individual components of framing systems and performs any rough carpentry or associated work, including but not limited to the construction or installation of: sub-flooring, siding, exterior staircases and railings, overhead doors, roof decking, truss members, and sheathing.

Cabinets: hanging finished cabinets and completing "finish carpentry" by, including sashes, trims, and non-bearing partitions and other items of detail.

Electrical: places, installs, erects or connects any electrical wires, fixtures, appliances, apparatus, raceways, conduits, and electrical boxes

Flooring: prepares any surface for the installation of flooring and floor coverings, and installs carpet, resilient sheet goods, resilient tile, wood floors and flooring (including the finishing and repairing thereof), and any other materials established as flooring;

Plumbing: supply of safe water, ample in volume with PVC piping and the proper disposal of fluid waste from the premises;

Roofing: installs shingles or roof tiles and repairs surfaces that weatherproof structures;

Doors/Windows: Installs flush doors and windows with handles, locks, and other accessories;

Siding: applies or installs vinyl siding;

Weatherization: installs, removes, modifies or repairs or provides maintenance services for energy conservation products such as door and window weather stripping, caulking, water heater pipe wrap, water heater blankets, storm windows, and insulation.

Painting: prepares by scraping, sandblasting or other means and applies paint;

Construction cleanup: cleans up and removes from building grounds or structures any debris resultant from any construction project including, but not limited to: concrete, dirt, scrap lumber, plaster, drywall, any paint or adhesive products from windows, floors, ceramic tile and bathroom fixtures.
