Manufacturing Assistant Finishing Dept: Busy manufacturing facility in Utica is in search of a Manufacturing Assistant to operate cutting machinery, backup Sewing Machine Technician and Assisting in the Finishing Line Treating Operations
Pay: $15.00/hr
Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 3pm, Friday 6am noon
Duties:
Perform applicable procedures as noted on job traveler/work instructions
Obtain first piece approval prior to production
Inspect products per part drawings and proof plans using calibrated measuring equipment as defined in the products proof plan
Maintain accurate counts throughout all operations
Record SPC data as required
Accurately enter job specific information into Sturges integrated computer system
Sewing Machine Setup, perform preventative maintenance and repair along with maintaining all production machinery/equipment in Finishing Department
Disburse, log and control all tools and fixtures used in production in the Finishing Department
Responsible for the safe handling, storage and use of all chemicals in accordance with Sturges safety procedures and chemical manufacturers MSDS sheets.
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on the treating line equipment
Responsible for the setup and operation of the treating line and assurance the equipment is producing product that meets the customers specifications
Responsible for troubleshooting equipment and material issues when quality issues arise
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Able to read and write English
Able to read a standard and metric tape measure
Strong mechanical aptitude required
Basic computer proficiency
Basic math skills
Strong team player
Effective communication skills; ability to deal with others in a respectful manner
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods; reach with hands and arms; moderate deviation in wrist position with repetitive hand/wrist motion; frequently stoop, bend and squat; frequently move or lift up to 10 pounds.
A drug test will be administered as a part of the pre-screen process.
