Lawman Heating and Cooling, Inc. located in the Watertown New York area, has partnered with Benefit Services Group in search of a Human Resources Manager. This is a new position for Lawman. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager who is knowledgeable in all aspects of human resources. The HR Manager is a member of the senior management team who works under the direct supervision of the Controller.

The HR Manager administers and provides functional support for multiple areas of Human Resources and facilitates a collaborative environment among other departments and locations.

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruitment and selection, HR compliance, employee relations, on-boarding, training, performance management, benefit administration, HRIS maintenance, and employee engagement.

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Be the employee resource for HR and benefit questions.

Remains up to date with federal and state employment laws and regulations in addition to HR best practices.

Provides staff development through internal training programs through excellent verbal and written communication appropriately tailored for different audiences and circumstances.

Development and implementation of a comprehensive and consistent onboarding and orientation process. Recruit for open positions, screen applications/resumes, conduct or assist with interviews, conduct reference and background checks and complete all necessary employment paperwork.

Maintain up to date labor posters

Conduct open enrollment & benefit fairs

Handle unemployment insurance, workers compensation, DBL claims and paperwork

Maintain up to date employee handbook, manuals, policies

Administers the 401(k) retirement plan and health plan in compliance with the summary plan descriptions

Oversees company sponsored employee benefit plans including voluntary and state or federal required benefits

Ability to write policies and procedures that are consistent with the companys culture and with legal and regulatory requirements.

Involved in conflict resolution and administering corrective action/disciplinary actions.

Works closely with the payroll department and assisting with any payroll-related matters

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in human resources or relevant discipline is preferred. Extensive experience in the human resource field may be considered in lieu of the educational degree.

A minimum of 5 years of experience resulting in the development of a strong HR Generalist skillset; PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Experience supporting multiple operating companies and multiple office locations.

HR experience with relevant industry experience (preferably construction, engineering or manufacturing).

Strong understanding of state and federal employment labor law (EEO, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, ADA, Human Rights, ERISA).

Understanding of the Davis-Bacon Act and experience administering prevailing wages, desirable.

Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point); experience with applicant tracking software, talent management software, and HRIS/payroll systems preferred.

The ability to establish strong interpersonal connections and trust with managers and employees at all levels of the organization.

Effective oral and written communication skills required; strong presentation skills and the ability to run meetings required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills appropriately tailored for different audiences and circumstances.

Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability manage multiple, competing priorities.

Problem solving skills and critical thinking skills with a metrics-driven approach to solutions.

Proven ability to lead and develop a small HR team.

Must be available to travel domestically with overnight stays for business purposes when necessary.
