Turner Land Surveying, a full-service land surveying firm located in Asheville/Swannanoa, North Carolina, has an opening for a Survey Crew Chief. This is a full-time field position. We provide our clients with topographic surveys, boundaries, construction staking, & as-builts throughout North Carolina.
Responsibilities include:
Perform field surveying operations for boundary, topographic, as-built, and construction staking surveys.
Perform GPS control network surveys.
Perform traverse and leveling computations.
Managing field survey project data files and field notes.
Communicate with on-site project superintendents, property owners, and clients.
Direct field survey technicians to maintain standard protocols to ensure quality and consistency of work performed.
Work solo, if needed, with GPS or robotic equipment.
Requirements:
Minimum 2+ years crew chief experience and 4+ years surveying experience.
Strong experience in construction staking and topographic surveying preferred.
Dependable and highly motivated individual.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferential consideration given to any additional education in surveying technology, civil engineering, and/or registration as a NC SIT.
Familiarity with TDS or equivalent data collection software, Robotic Total Stations, & VRS/RTK GPS procedures.
Must be capable of preparing and/or organizing daily field notes, sketches, photos, etc. and manage data collector files and downloading.
Possess adequate verbal and written communication skills to report daily site information and interactions to project managers.
Must be able to perform outdoor work in rough terrain and wet conditions.
Ability to stand and walk a minimum of 8hrs per day.
Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
Must be able to travel and stay out-of-town for projects throughout NC on a regular basis.
Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
